Not necessarily.. the market actually hopes for bad retail sales, hence the likelihood of a rate cut is higher.
but powell also mentioned the holding back of imminent rate cuts… soo…
worse to come. as usual, manipulating the numbers making it looks better then revised the following month. guess the real number for this month is actually negative
Well.. based on record, the assumption made by Fed has never been true. In 2023 and 2024, hinted for more rate cuts, but didn't happen. In Jan 2025, hinted that no rate cut until late of this year.. they could do a snap rate cut as early as Jun. It all depends on the data.
