Chapter 4, September 2
Introduction of Screener
Much of the recent rise in the market has been attributed to FOMO. As the market has climbed steadily higher in V-shaped fashion, more and more investors become concerned that they will never have an opportunity to put cash to work at attractive prices. It is the nature of the stock market to act at times in a way that will make us feel like we have screwed up. But at least we can do things better by picking the right stocks.
Selecting good stocks isn't easy. The sheer volume of companies makes zeroing in on a good stock difficult and the volumes of data on the internet don't make things any easier. However, now we have a tailored tool - Screener on Moomoo to help you out with the pain.
How to find Screener on Moomoo?
1: Search page —> Screener
2: Quote-Markets —> US / HK / CN —> Screener
What is Screener?
Screener is a tool that investors and traders can use to filter stocks based on user-defined metrics. They allow users to select stocks that fit a particular profile or set of criteria. For example, users are able to screen for stocks by their price, market capitalization (market cap), price-to-earnings or P/E ratio, dividend yield, 52-week price change percentage, average volume, among others.
4 kinds of indicators & How to use them
Currently, Screener supports 4 major categories of indicators: Range, Quotes, Financial, and Technical.
1. Range
Range is used to screen stocks by region, industry, and sample stock list.
For example, I can enter a set of filters like "US(region), Airports & Air Services (Industry), All Stock (Sample List)" to sort out a list of Airports & Air Services companies trading in the American market. Then I can simply tag it and save it as "US - Air Services" in Screener by tapping the "Save" button on the upper right corner.
2. Quotes
Quotes are indicators related to a stock's market performance. If you are a performance-oriented investor, you would probably find this useful. For example, you can screen stocks by their Market Cap, Price, trading volume, and so on.
3. Financial
Financial is about the companies' financial situation. If you are a fundamental - oriented investor like me, this section would be a good starting point for your research. For example, I can enter search criteria as "ROE >=20% & Debt Asset Ratio <=10%", then I will have a list of companies with high profitability and low leverage.
4. Technical
As technical traders, you can simply choose the time interval, and then enter factors like MA, KDJ, RSI ... whatever you see fit.
Absolutely you can combine all the criteria I have mentioned above. Press on " Check Results" to generate a list of matches after you are done with the settings. Don't forget to save your lists using the "Save" button on the upper right corner.
5. Viewed Saved lists
Once you have saved the lists, it will show up on Screener when you reopen the page.
