The Stoxx 600 gained 0.4%, extending its advance into the third day.
However, oil prices curbed the increasing trend as the tension between Iran and the U.S. faded out. Another reason is the oil price is already at a relatively high level, with the increase of $10/barrel in the fourth quarter last year. A deeper reason behind the price is that the supply of oil can be adjusted by several countries and institutions, including OPEC, the U.S., and Russia. Saudi Arabia, the OPEC member, hopes to raise the oil price by cutting its exports. But the U.S is not happy to see a too high price, not to mention that it has a large potential supply of shale.
Other safe havens dropped too, as spot gold was down to $1,546.43 per ounce.
