On October 15, in an interview, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hong Kong, Yeung Yun-hung, pointed out that Hong Kong's full customs clearance has been over 8 months, that the number of visitors in August has recovered to 80 to 90 percent before the epidemic, reaching 23 million as of September. It is expected that at least 30 million visitors will visit Hong Kong by the end of 2023, but it is still a long way from the high level of passenger traffic compared to 2018. In addition to the fact that the current airline operating capacity has not fully recovered, it is still very unlikely that the number of visitors to Hong Kong will return to pre-pandemic levels this year.
