According to a research report released by BofA Securities, the performance of online retail sales in the mainland improved slightly month by month in August, with a strong performance in fresh, catering and packaged food during the period. It is believed that it has led to double-digit growth in new businesses such as Pinduoduo, Dingdong (Cayman) Limited, Dada Nexus Limited and Meituan in the second quarter. Vipshop Holdings Limited, BABA and Baozun Inc are more dependent on the recovery of demand for fashion clothing products. BofA expects companies to pay more attention to efficiency improvement and cost control, and to pay more attention to sales and operating promotion expenses, rebates and subsidies. The bank also believes that ecommerce and Internet companies need a significant improvement in profit margin performance next year to meet market expectations.
